Man United in contract talks with 30-year-old Spain international
Juan Mata has admitted that he is in talks with Manchester United over a new contract.
The 30-year-old netted a sublime free-kick to pull the Red Devils level against Juventus in Turin before Alex Sandro’s own goal secured a 2-1 win for Jose Mourinho’s team.
Juan Mata’s contract is due to expire at the end of this season, and the Spanish playmaker could leave the club as a free agent.
But Juan Mata, who joined Manchester United from rivals Chelsea for £37.1 million back in 2014, has admitted that he is negotiating with the club over extending his deal.
‘I am very happy in England, my contract is up in the summer, and I’m in talks with Manchester United in order to see what happens,’ Juan Mata told El Transistor after the victory over Juventus.
The World Cup winner also spoke about perfecting his free-kick technique after the training sessions. ‘I have confidence in free kicks at the moment,’ he told BT Sport.
‘I train a lot after training sessions I like to stay with some balls and some goalkeepers they help me a lot too. Today’s was important, and then we went on and scored again.’
