Club general manager Tim Bezbatchenko played down talk of a complete rebuild for TFC in his end-of-season press conference on Tuesday, saying: “I don't think a massive overhaul needs to take place. This team isn't done, this roster isn't done. There is a drive, a collective mentality from this group. They want to go out and compete.”

The designated player had held reportedly contentious talks over a new deal, though he supposedly agreed to a new contract last month to make him the highest-paid player in the team's history.

Sources close to the manager say he's not willing to leave midseason, but his players worry the lure of Manchester United or Real Madrid could pry him away following the 2018-19 campaign.

Real Madrid To Play Copa Del Rey Match In African Soil

Why are Real Madrid playing on African continent for Copa del Rey clash?

The 19-time winners of the knockout competition begin their quest for a 20th title on the north coast of Africa

Real Madrid will face one of the most unusual Copa del Rey matches in their 116-year history on Wednesday as they will have to travel to Africa to play their first game of the tournament away to Melilla.

Los Blancos have entered the competition at the last-32 stage and have been paired with the third-tier side, who hail from a Spanish autonomous city on the north coast of Africa, sharing a border with Morocco.

With a population of around 80,000, it is one of two cities to enjoy such a status, with the other being Ceuta, which lies further along the coast to the west. Although officially claimed by Morocco, they have been under Spanish control for more than 500 years.

Melilla has recently made the news as it has been a location where refugees have tried to get access to 'European soil' without having to cross the Mediterranean Sea.

The first leg of the two-legged affair will be the first time Los Blancos have travelled to face Melilla in competitive action and will take place at the 12,000-seater Estadio Municipal Alvarez Claro, which lies around 350 miles south of the Spanish capital, on October 31 before the return match at the Bernabeu on December 5.

It is a journey that the Primera Division side are poised to make without a head coach, having sacked Julen Lopetegui on Monday following a 5-1 Clasico loss at the hands of Barcelona on Sunday.

While Antonio Conte is currently in negotiations to take over at the BernabeuTottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino appears an increasingly strong candidate for the role, though neither is likely to be in place by the time Madrid make the trip.

As such Santiago Solari is liable to be in charge, having been hastily promoted from the 'B' team.

Who are UD Melilla?

Melilla has its own football federation, which was founded in 1999, although it has no affiliation with FIFA, CAF or UEFA. Parallels could be drawn with football in the British overseas territory of Gibraltar, although Melilla have not attempted to form a team that represents the enclave.

Meanwhile, UD Melilla is the city’s foremost team, having been founded in its current guise in 1976, although there has been a football team in the enclave since 1921.

They have enjoyed a solid presence in Spain’s Segunda Division B over the years, having won promotion to the third level in 1987. Since then, they have never been relegated, while they even finished second in 2010, when they were denied promotion in the playoffs as they went down 4-0 to Las Palmas.

Their league obligations see them in a regional group that involves teams playing in the south of Spain, with the likes of Sevilla Atletico, Marbella, Murcia and even Ibiza in their pool.

So far this season, they lie second in the table, boasting six wins from 10 matches and having suffered only one defeat.

Meanwhile, they have qualified for the Copa del Rey on numerous occasions but have rarely known much success in the knockout competition. Indeed, they have fallen in the first round in 16 of the 24 occasions they have played.

This will be just the second time that they have qualified for the last 32, with the previous occurrence coming back in 2012-13.

On that occasion they were drawn against a Levante side who went on to finish 11th in La Liga and were playing in the Europa League. And Melilla caused the Valencian side major difficulties; they won the first leg 1-0 thanks to a first-half penalty and were only eliminated 4-2 on aggregate after conceding three times late on in the second match.

This season, they have reached the last 32 thanks to an extra-time victory over fourth-tier outfit Yeclano, a thumping 3-0 home win over Tudelano and a 2-0 win over Otinyent.

Their forthcoming clash against Real Madrid, therefore, stands as the biggest match in the club’s history.

They are not, however, the only team on the African continent to play in the Copa del Rey this season.

Are there other teams who play abroad?

Historically, they have enjoyed a rivalry with Ceuta, a club that hails from the other Spanish enclave on Africa. When the teams play, rather than take a direct 400-kilometre drive, they go via the Spanish mainland to avoid travelling through Morocco.

Playing in the fourth tier, the Tercera Division (fourth tier) club were knocked out of the first round of the competition this season against UCAM Murcia, although they have three times reached the last 32 of the Copa del Rey, where they have been beaten by Cordoba, Valencia and Real Oviedo.

No African-based side has ever gone further than this round, though if Melilla were to upset Real Madrid over two legs it would go down as one of the greatest footballing shocks in history.

Meanwhile, Spain is not the only country to have such unusual cup trips, with their trip paling into comparison with the potential some French clubs face in the Coupe de France.

0:000:30

France has overseas territories as distant as New Caledonia and Tahiti in the east, and Guadeloupe and French Guiana in the west. If Paris Saint-Germain had been drawn against AS Dragon in this season’s competition, for example, they could have theoretically faced a round trip of near 20,000 miles to play the fixture on Tahiti.

Thankfully for PSG and France’s other sides, they have already been knocked out.

In the United Kingdom, Berwick Rangers play in the Scottish Professional Football League, despite being based in England, while Glasgow club Queen's Park reached the final of the FA Cup in 1884. Until recently, Scottish club Gretna also played in the FA Cup until 2002, last reaching the first round proper in 1993-94.

Varane And Mariano injured

Varane & Mariano Injured

The French defender and Brazilian striker have joined Marcelo in the treatment room following the Clasico defeat by Barcelona

Real Madrid could be without the injured Raphael Varane for up to a month after he suffered an adductor injury.

The World Cup winner was withdrawn at half-time during Real’s 5-1 defeat to Barcelona on Sunday and the club have since confirmed that he has damaged his long-leg adductor, with reports suggesting Varane could be out for a month.

A brief statement read: "After the tests carried out on Raphael Varane by the Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury to the adductor in his right leg.

"The player's situation will continue to be monitored."

The Frenchman will be joined on the sidelines by Mariano Diaz, with the Brazilian having picked up an injury to his right bicep. It is unclear how long he is expected to be missing for the Spanish giants.

Also likely to miss some action is the forward’s compatriot Marcelo who, like Varane, left the pitch at Camp Nou with an injury.

While Mariano is expected to miss around a fortnight, it is thought that the full-back could be sidelined until some time after the international break in mid-November after aggravating a calf injury he initially picked up against Sevilla earlier in the month.

Muscle injuries have been a common occurrence during Madrid’s season with Jesus Vallejo, Gareth Bale, and Dani Carvajal all spending time in the treatment room for similar problems.

The absences of Marcelo and Varane could leave Real with personnel issues in defence, with cover lacking in the full-back positions in particular. Nacho, usually deployed in the heart of defence, has played on the left side of a back four before, but looked vulnerable in a woeful team performance last weekend.

0:000:30

Other options include academy graduate Sergio Reguilon, whose only senior appearance so far came in the 1-0 Champions League defeat to CSKA Moscow earlier in the season.

A lengthy injury list will only serve to compound Madrid’s misery, with the European champions sitting ninth in the Liga table having registered just one win in their last seven matches - a run that ultimately cost manager Julen Lopetegui his job .

Castilla boss and former player Santiago Solari has been handed the reins on a caretaker basis while a suitable replacement is sought .

ROMAN Abramovich has yet to visit Stamford Bridge this season, even though his Chelsea team are finally playing the kind of attractive football he has been craving.

In fact, the Russian oligarch has not set foot in Britain since the British government failed to renew his visa in May.

The Chelsea owner spent £350m building the ship - but the price is reported to have soared to over £1billion because of luxury and security additions

Abramovich’s seven properties in the UK remain unoccupied, including two houses in Lowndes Square, Belgravia, together worth more than £150 million.

But his most lavish and extravagant residence has to be his superyacht Eclipse.

It cost just shy of £300million when he picked up the keys in 2010 – and at the time it was the biggest private yacht in the world.

It is probably the most extravagant boy’s toy ever imagined.

Built by renowned German shipbuilder Blohm & Voss in the Hamburg shipyards that built the Bismarck, Eclipse was launched after five years of design, development and testing.

For starters it is 533ft long – more than twice the size of the pitch at Stamford Bridge.

The fuel tanks are said to be able to hold a million litres, meaning it can travel 6,000 miles before it needs topping up.

Eclipse boasts nine decks, the top one containing two helipads and a garage.

The forward helideck opens out to allow for a Eurocopter EC155 to be stored in a hangar underneath.
The eighth deck features a swimming pool and a sundeck, with a pull-out barbecue and pizza oven and a built-in wood burning fire pit.

The main saloon boasts a fireplace and a massive driftwood sculpture from Bali in Indonesia.

The superyacht, which is currently docked in Hamburg, is however very expensive to maintain.

Running costs are estimated to be around £40million a year.

Matic speeaks on martial's talent

Martial 'doesn't understand' own potential, says Matic

The Frenchman has scored on each of his last three Premier League appearances

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial can become one of the best players in the Premier League if he realises his potential, according to team-mate Nemanja Matic.

The France international has forced his way back into the reckoning under Jose Mourinho, and has scored four goals in his last three Premier League games.

Martial's latest contribution came in the 2-1 win over Everton, winning a first half penalty before netting the key second goal after the break with a curling strike.
Lopetegui

The impressive run of form comes amid talks over a new deal for the 22-year-old, who has reportedly turned down United's latest contract offer.

Matic has been encouraged by Martial's recent form but admits he must discover greater consistency in the future.

“Anthony is a great player and he needs to understand that," he said. "He needs more confidence.

"He is still young and I think if he continues to score in the next games he will get that.

“If he reaches his top level he can be one of the best players in the league for sure. Sometimes I don’t think he understands how good he is.

“Sometimes he is quick, he is good with the ball, he can run. He has everything that a Manchester United football player needs. Sometimes I don’t think he understands that.

“If I had his ability with the ball and I was as quick as him then I wouldn’t pass to anyone and I would score every game!"

Though Martial's contract is due to run out in 2019 a clause exists which allows United to extend the deal by another 12 months.

Mourinho was ready to part ways with Martial in the summer but the United hierarchy opted to keep him at Old Trafford.

That decision has paid dividends, with the Frenchman having been among the few positives for a United side already nine points off the pace in the Premier League title race.

“To be serious, he does need more confidence and this comes with results," Matic said.

"When you don’t have results it is very difficult for players to have that high confidence.

"If we can get results over the next few games and improve as a team he will show that he is very important for us.

“The manager speaks with him about it. I have told him once.

0:001:41

"But he is a great person and a great guy and I am happy for him that he is scoring. It is great.

“The quality is there, and he just needs to be more consistent. I am glad we have him in the team.

"In football and in life you have difficult times and you have to get back on track and that is exactly what he is doing.”

Full-back has been a problem area for United in recent years, but a good start to the season for England left-back Shaw has provided a welcome boost for Mourinho.

Real eye Pochettino after Lopetegui exit

8 hours ago 23:05

Pochettino top of the pile for Real Madrid

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is Real Madrid's top option to replace Julen Lopetegui as manager, according to The Sun.

Lopetegui's departure was confirmed by the Spanish giants on Monday with ex-player Santiago Solari, coach of Madrid's reserve side, temporarily replacing him.

It had been suggested that former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte would be taking over at the Bernabeu, but The Sun claim that 'Spanish player power' stopped the Italian from getting the job.

The article goes on to say that Real Madrid are optimistic about their chances of landing Pochettino after a meeting with 'people close' to the Spurs manager in London last week.

Lopetegui sacked

Lopetegui out of the hotseat as conte waits

The Spanish manager has left Santiago Bernabeu following a 5-1 defeat for Los Blancos against Barcelona at Camp Nou on Sunday

Julen Lopetegui has been sacked by Real Madrid after a terrible start to the 2018-19 season culminated in a shocking loss against their arch-rivals, Barcelona, this weekend.

Barca were good value for their victory, even without club captain Lionel Messi pulling the strings in the final third, as Luis Suarez grabbed a hat-trick in between strikes from Philippe Coutinho and Arturo Vidal .

Marcelo made the scoreline 2-1 just after half-time, but a late flurry from the hosts made sure of the three points, which has left Madrid sitting ninth in the Liga table, seven points behind leaders Barca.
win

Lopetegui has been under pressure for weeks now and, having won just one of their last seven matches in all competitions, the board has finally decided to act by terminating his contract.

The 52-year-old boss was appointed as Madrid's new manager just before the World Cup back in June, which cost him his position as Spain's head coach for the tournament.

Los Blancos started the season quite strongly but, after a 1-0 defeat against Alaves on October 6, things began to unravel for Lopetegui and his team have underperformed ever since.

Antonio Conte is in advanced talks to replace him in the hotseat, though difficulties regarding the Italian's release clause with Chelsea have provided an unwelcome setback.

As such, reserve-team manager Santiago Solari is set to take the reins until an agreement can be reached between the two clubs.

A statement released by Madrid on Monday reads: "The board of directors of Real Madrid CF, after meeting today on October 29, 2018, have agreed to terminate Julen Lopetegui's contract with the club.

"The decision, taken with the highest level of responsibility, aims to change the dynamics of the first team while all the objectives of this season are still achievable.

"The board of directors understands that there is a great disproportion between the quality of the staff of Real Madrid - which has eight players nominated for the next Ballon d'Or, something unprecedented in the history of the club - and the results obtained to date.

"The club thanks Julen Lopetegui and all his technical team for their effort and work and wish them the best in their professional career.

"He will provisionally replaced by Santiago Solari, who will lead the first team starting from Tuesday."

Lopetegui had pledged to turn things around at the Bernabeu in the wake of El Clasico, as he insisted: "This is a tough blow, but I am strong enough to know everything can be turned around. There is a long way to go, and I have a lot of faith in this group of players.”

However, Madrid chiefs were unwilling to grant him a stay of execution at the club and, by turning to Conte at this early stage, they are hoping that the season can be salvaged, with plenty still to play for across all competitions.

Club captain Sergio Ramos was pensive in his response when asked about Lopetegui's future on Sunday, as he stated post-match: "It is not our decision. So, we will stay to the side, let the hours pass and whatever happens will happen. It’s not about the players.”

Next up for Madrid is a Copa Del Rey clash against Melilla on Wednesday, before a return to La Liga duty on Saturday against Real Valladolid.

Premier league weekend-five things we learned

Premier League weekend – Five things we learned

Week ten was sadly a very dark weekend of Premier League football.  The game was rocked by three horrendous headlines affecting a number of clubs. As many try to take stock, here is a look at five things we learned from the weekend’s events on and off the field.

Football must take a back seat in times like these

The bad headlines just kept coming on Saturday. At the 3.00pm kick off at The Amex, an elderly Brighton fan was taken ill at the ground and later passed away, despite the efforts of the first aid staff on the scene. Later on in the afternoon, whilst working on his punditry gig for BT, former England and Spurslegend Glenn Hoddle collapsed with a suspected heart attack and was rushed to hospital, thankfully he has been responsive to initial treatment despite his condition still being classed as serious.

Finally, the entire community of Leicester was left in stunned, sickened grief as news broke on Saturday evening that their chairman’s helicopter crashed just meters from the stadium following their game with West Ham.

Sadly, the popular Foxes chairman, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, has been confirmed as one of five fatalities in this tragic accident. Tributes have of course been pouring in from all over the globe, and for a while, football should rightly take a back seat as the horrible, shocked air of mourning hangs over the King Power Stadium.

Our thoughts go out to everybody associated with the club and the victims.

Bournemouth and Watford continue to earn their stripes

Sitting sixth and seventh respectively in the table; Bournemouth and Watford continue to impress this season. With ten games on the board already, both sides are well on their way to an outstanding season. It would be unfair to dismiss their form as luck or early season rustiness from the competitors.

Eddie Howe and Javi Garcia have got their teams fully firing and free scoring. The likes of Wilson, Brooks and King for Bournemouth, and Pereyra and Deulofeu for Watford, look to have given their teams an extra gear this season, and although there will be more difficult days ahead for them in the Premier League, there is no denying the good work being done at clubs on the smaller side of the top flight scales.

Rotated Reds show they can get the job done

There were a few surprises in the Liverpool line up as Cardiff City came to Anfield on Saturday. A rare start was given to error prone left back Alberto Moreno, plus summer signing Fabinho was given a full Premier League debut. Adam Lallana was preferred to the in-form Xherdan Shaqiri as Klopp rotated and left the Swiss international on the bench, much to the puzzlement of a fair few fans.

Despite a rusty looking performance at times, Liverpool clicked at the right moments and were able to put four past a deep sitting Bluebirds defence. The rotation and rest for some of the key players will be a welcome sign for Liverpool fans, but Mane and Salah were fantastic on the day and still look to be the main match winners for the Reds.

Arsenal show signs of old weaknesses

It may be with some rolling of the eyes that Arsenal fans dismiss criticism levelled at their team following their 2-2 draw with Palace on Sunday. However, like it or not, their old weaknesses reared their head at Selhurt Park.

First, Shkodran Mustafi and then Granit Xhaka clumsily gave away penalties that proved to be decisive in their team dropping points. In fairness, a run of eleven straight wins in all competition has left The Gunners in the top four after ten games, but they will have been disappointed to gift Palace two spot kicks, especially given The Eagles’ recent form. Emery will want to see better concentration and decision making from his players if they are to seriously push for a top four spot this campaign.

United to show more signs of life

Whether or not you feel the penalty awarded to United at Old Trafford against Everton, was soft, you cannot deny this win will have come as a huge relief for Mourinho and the Manchester United faithful. The Toffees will have gone into this game with some confidence after three really impressive wins in the league. However, Mourinho’s players also look to have put their wobbly recent form in the Premier League to bed, at least for now.

It’s now two wins and a draw for United since their squalid display at West Ham, and despite not really firing during their 2-1 victory, they had enough quality to see them through. The performances are hardly likely to wow anybody, anytime soon, but Mourinho needed some momentum to propel his team upwards, they’ll surely take this for now.

No change in tottenham tactics against city-pochettino

No change in Tottenham approach against City - Pochettino

NEWS

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham will not change their approach to Monday's Premier League clash with Manchester City despite Pep Guardiola's side arriving at Wembley unbeaten in 2018-19.

Spurs head into the match having lost 10 of their last 15 league matches against City and, with the visitors having recorded seven wins already this season, they face another tough challenge.

City's flamboyant attacking play has delivered 26 goals, while at the back only three goals have been conceded by number one Ederson.

Despite the odds appearing stacked against them, Pochettino is keen for his side to keep playing their own attacking brand of football, even if it could prove costly.

"You cannot change your approach [just] because the opponent is good like Manchester City, or change your mentality," he said in a video released by Tottenham on Twitter.

"We are going to try, with and without the ball, to have a strategy and try to win the game, that is the most important thing, playing in the way that we always play."

Monday's encounter will see defender Davinson Sanchez charged with keeping Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne at bay.

And the Colombia international is relishing the chance to test himself against the league's best.

"I'm excited for it as we will be playing one of the best teams in the league," he told the club's official website.

"I think the most important thing ahead of the game is how we feel, how we prepare for the game.

"We have to be ready to compete and to try to get the three points to keep fighting near the top.

"I feel very good at the moment. I'm feeling confident and I'm looking forward. I will keep fighting for the team because we have a great squad here and great staff to help us to learn and improve our game.

“Every game we have to be ready to win and show our best to help our team-mates. We will certainly give our all [against City]."

Pickford talks about pogba's penalty

Pogba's run-up helped penalty save, says Pickford

The Everton goalkeeper kept out the Man Utd midfielder's 27th-minute spot-kick before the Frenchman redeemed himself by converting the rebound.

Jordan Pickford says he knew where Paul Pogba would place his penalty during Everton’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The England goalkeeper saved from Pogba after the Frenchman gave a stuttering run-up to his 27th-minute spot-kick, but was unable to keep out the rebound as United opened the scoring.

Pogba has embarked on an interrupted run-up for penalties earlier in the season, successfully converting from 12 yards against Leicester on the opening day, but Pickford used his knowledge of the midfielder’s technique to out-think the United man and repel the penalty, albeit to no avail.

“When he did his run-up I knew where he was going to go and I saved it, but unfortunately it went back out,” Pickford told Everton’s club website.

“I did my research and made the save. Even if it even goes three yards out to his left or right, I’ve got enough time to get up and make the save from the rebound but it wasn't to be."

Pogba’s penalty run-up took longer to complete than sprinter Usain Bolt’s 100m world record, and the midfielder explained his rationale after the game , telling Sky Sports: “I always try and destabilise the keeper. Maybe they know how I take penalties.”

After Pogba had given United the lead, Anthony Martial scored a second with a spectacular curling effort from 18 yards, before Gylfi Sigurdsson scored from the spot to set up a nervous finish for Jose Mourinho’s side.

“We showed character and plenty of spirit and we fought right until the end,” said Pickford.

“We dug in as a group and we almost got something out of the game."

0:020:30

Everton boss Marco Silva accused Martial of having dived to win the penalty from which United took the lead, after the Frenchman went down under contact from Idrissa Gueye who appeared to have played the ball.

“That moment, it was no penalty,” said Silva. “It was difficult for us. That moment makes it easy for our opponents. You are more exposed then because you have to take more risks. They scored a fantastic goal but we had a good chance to score at 2-1.”

John obi mikel in fifa musuem

EXTRA TIME: John Obi Mikel's 2018 World Cup jersey added to Fifa museum

The Super Eagles were the first team to beat debutant Iceland at the World Cup in Russia thus earning the skipper a place in the gallery

The jersey worn by Nigeria captain John Obi Mikel at the 2018 World Cup has been added to the Fifa museum collection.

The football governing announced that the shirt will be at the museum located in Zurich after Gernot Rohr’s became the first team to beat Iceland at the World Cup finals.

"Argentina couldn't claim three points against hardy newcomers, Iceland, but the Super Eagles did - and they did it in style," the statement reads.

"The jersey worn by John Mikel Obi at Nigeria's 2-0 victory at the Volgograd Arena at the 2018 World Cup has been added to the FIFA Museum collection."

Ahmed Musa’s brace powered the west Africans to their only victory at the global showpiece as defeats to Croatia and Argentina ended their journey at the group stage.

Nigeria won the encounter at the Volgograd Arena by 2-0 after Argentina settled for a 1-1 draw against the European country in the Group D opener.

Koscielny to depart arsenal

ARSENAL

Arsenal ready to let Laurent Koscielny depart

Arsenal extended their unbeaten run to 12 matches under Unai Emery, albeit with a controversial draw against Crystal Palace.

The Gunners have started well under the Spanish boss, however, many are waiting for him to face some of the Premier League’s biggest sides before passing judgement on how well things really are.

The defence, although it still has its flaws, has improved considerably since Emery arrived, as they managed to make a number of additions in the summer to strengthen it.

Laurent Koscielny has not been involved yet as he continues to return from the injury that he picked up last season, however, it now appears that he may not feature for the club at all.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Arsenal are believed to be open to letting the former France international leave the Emirates Stadium should an offer come in for him.

The 33-year-old is thought to be attracting interest from Barcelona, who are believed to be keen to add him to their ranks as short-term cover for their own defensive woes.

Although Sokratis was signed and a partnership between Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding appears to be working, it would not be a great move to let Koscielny go in the summer.

The defender has been a stalwart for the Gunners since joining the club back in 2010, having made almost 250 appearances for the club.

Fans will still argue, despite having been criticised at times, he is one of the best defenders the club has to offer and would put him in the first-team, once he is fully fit and available to do so.

Gary neville vs paul pogba

Gary Neville loses his cool with ‘stupid’ Manchester United star despite Everton victory

MANCHESTER UNITED FC

Manchester United legend Gary Neville slammed the ‘stupid’ antics of midfielder Paul Pogba as the team conceded a late goal to Everton in their 2-1 win on Sunday.

The Red Devils looked home and dry after going 2-0 up thanks to Pogba’s first-half goal and a stunner from Anthony Martial in the second period.

MORE:

However, Pogba tried to be a little too clever late on as he gave up possession before United conceded a penalty, which Everton promptly scored to give themselves a fighting chance of rescuing a point in the closing stages.

It’s fair to say that Neville was not at all impressed with Pogba’s role in the Toffees goal as he slammed the Frenchman in his Sky Sports commentary.

The former England defender won a whole host of honours in a long career at Old Trafford and knows what kind of high standards it takes to represent the club.

Paul Pogba was criticised heavily by Gary Neville during Manchester United’s win over Everton

So he pulled no punches as he tore into Pogba for being ‘stupid’ and ‘messing around’ for the Everton goal.

‘All eyes towards Paul Pogba,’ Neville was quoted by the Metro.

‘He’s messing around and showboating in the middle of the pitch. He waits and waits, he does a stupid little chip, then Everton are through.’

This is quite an emotional outburst from Neville, who will no doubt be eager to see his old club doing much better than they have been in the last few years.

Mourinho praises star player

Mourinho praises Manchester United's star  boosting new contract hopes

Manchester United v Everton FC - Premier League

What's the story?

Manchester United's forward Anthony Martial received rare praise from Jose Mourinho following Manchester United's hard fought victory over Everton where the Frenchman was the centre of attention.

Mourinho's criticism of the Frenchman in the past resulted in a turbulent relationship between the pair but the ship seems to have steadied boosting the hopes of a new contract.

In case you didn't know...

The war of words between Mourinho and Martial existed since the time of the pre-season itself with the Frenchman missing crucial practice sessions due to personal reasons culminating in Jose Mourinho questioning his commitment and desire.

In a tweet which exclaimed "family always comes first", Martial was clearly hitting back at Jose and signalling the fact that he had other priorities to take care of too.

As Manchester United signed Alexis Sanchez last season in January, Martial's game time was cut short and he was repeatedly left on the bench with a limited role to play, provoking strong rumours of him leaving in the summer for Juventus and that move did not unfold.

However in the recent weeks, the attacker's game-time has risen and he finds himself to be in a promising form.

The heart of the matter

Anthony Martial is one of the eleven Manchester United players whose contract expires in 2019 and Manchester United cannot afford to let go of a rising sensation such as him. Tumultuous relationship with Jose Mourinho did spark rumours of him leaving but after the victory at Everton,

Jose said

" At the moment, he is playing very well ( Martial ). Even if he doesn't score, to create what he is creating, it is a solid performance for the team."

" He is understanding things he did not before. His performance without the goal would be a good performance."

Manchester United v Everton FC - Premier League

What's next?

The Frenchman's and the fans have a love affair and his interaction with them at the Stamford Bridge last week proved it. As things are getting better now with the manager, Manchester United and their fans can be hopeful of him signing a new five-year contract.

Why chelsea fans are rejoicing

Why news in Spain has Chelsea fans rejoicing about the future of their star player

by Patrick James

If you thought Chelsea fans were happy with a 4-0 win over Burnley at the weekend, just wait till you see how happy they were about the news emerging later that night.

Blues fans not only got to bask in the glory of a comfortable win without their star man Eden Hazard, they also got to find out that he may well be staying at the club long term.

Not long after the final whistle at Burnley, El Clásico kicked off, and Real Madrid – the prime candidate to sign Hazard – were thrashed 5-1.

Antonio Conte on his way to Real Madrid. A move that will please his former club, Chelsea, as it increases the chances of Eden Hazard signing a new contract. The club are eager to open negotiations with Hazard soon. #cfcpic.twitter.com/A1c8YuT2oN

— Kristof Terreur 📰 (@HLNinEngeland) October 29, 2018

That spells the end for Julen Lopetegui, and the man being tipped to replace him at the moment is former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

Suddenly, the idea of going to Spain looks a lot less appealing to Hazard, and the chances of him signing a new deal at the Bridge have been boosted massively.

A great weekend all round.

Chelsea to sign lyon midfielder

Chelsea in three-horse race with both Manchester clubs for top Lyon star

by Patrick James

Manchester City under Pep Guardiola have enjoyed an unstoppable march to victories in England, but it seems they have their work cut out this time in their chase for Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

The youngster is one of the hottest properties in the Lyon setup and his showings since last season have caught the eye of Guardiola, Jose Mourinho and Maurizio Sarri.

According to the Sunday Mirror, Chelsea will throw themselves into the pursuit of the central midfielder who is highly regarded by Lyon and is currently valued at £55 million by the Ligue 1 outfit.

It was only last summer that his deal was made permanent after the temporary recruitment from Amiens. However, his early performances alerted a host of top clubs to him and Tottenham Hotspur were said to have tabled a bid of £40m for his signature last summer, only to be rejected of course.

Ndombele has started all of Lyon’s French Ligue 1 games this season, grabbing four assists.

Will Pochettino leave Spurs?

2 hours ago 08:16

Is there a danger Mauricio Pochettino could leave as Tottenham manager? The Argentine says he is currently feeling the ‘worst’ of any point in his time as Spurs boss.

Pochettino has regularly been linked with the Manchester United and Real Madrid jobs, although it appears he will not be offered the latter role, with Antonio Conte set to replace Julen Lopetegui at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, despite Spurs’ impressive start to the season, Pochettino is not happy after a summer which saw the club sign no first-team players and the delay in the new stadium being ready.

Ranieri's old nemesis Jose Mourinho doesn't seem to be relishing the situation too much at Manchester United.

“Jose is a great character, a great Coach and a great person. I think the whole controversy over me having 'Zero titles' has been left behind a long time ago, though."

Arsenal To Sign Hamburg Defender

Arsenal in pole position to secure signature of No.5 versatile defender

October 29, 2018 Jano

Arsenal are reportedly leading their Premier League rivals in the race to land David Bates from 2. Bundesliga outfit Hamburg, according to the Daily Mirror, as cited by the Daily Record.

The north London giants are said to be at the front of a queue of top-flight English sides in their pursuit of Bates, who has been in stunning form in the early stages of the 2. Bundesliga season.

After talks over a fresh deal at Rangers reached an impasse, David opted to depart Ibrox to complete a free transfer to the German club in the summer as a result of their relegation from the Bundesliga.

His influence at the German side has been clear to see, though. In eight league matches for his side, he has helped the team keep a total of six clean sheets.

This level of performance from David appears to have piqued the interest of other Premier League teams.

Everton are understood to be similarly interested in recruiting the Scotland U21 star, whilst Watford, Southampton and Leicester City have also reportedly sent scouts to observe his displays.

Tottenham Hotspur will welcome Manchester City on Monday night in the tenth game week in the Premier League. Tottenham Hotspur will wish to win the match to have the edge over their arch rivals Arsenal in the League Table. On the other hand, it will be an important match for Manchester City too.

Team News :

Tottenham Hotspur :

Tottenham Hotspur’s manager Mauricio Pochettino is still assessing the fitness issues of Dele Alli and Danny Rose ahead of the important match against Manchester City. Dele Alli is closing his date of return but the manager has not confirmed whether the English midfielder will start against the mighty Manchester City side. Tottenham Hotspur are not facing much problems in the attacking third without the absence of Dele Alli as the North London side have many quality players in that position. Christian Eriksen has been back in business for the Spurs side after recovering from his injury. On the other hand, there will be a huge competition between Erik Lamela, Lucas Moura and Heung Son Min to get into two positions in the field. Son Heung Min has been selected for Tottenham Hotspur’s match against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Wednesday. So, it is seeming that Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela will start along with Christian Eriksen in the attacking midfield position for Tottenham Hotspur.

On the other hand, Harry Kane will be the lone centre forward for Tottenham Hotspur in this match. Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele are going to be there in the defensive midfield position for the Spurs side. Trippier, Alderweireld, Sanchez and Davies are going to play in the defense for Tottenham Hotspur against Manchester City while Hugo Lloris would be there in the Goal.

Manchester City :

Pep Guardiola’s player selection has been really tricky so far in this season. The manager is trying to rotate his squad in every matches. Now,the Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is also back at the Manchester City squad and he has started the match against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Tuesday. It is clearly indicating that Kevin De Bruyne is now fully fit. But according to the sources, Kevin De Bruyne might start in the bench for Manchester City as Pep Guardiola might prefer to go with David Silva and Bernardo Silva in the central midfield for this match. Fernandinho is surely going to start in the midfield for them. There are also doubts over the fitness of Kyle Walker. Kyle Walker did not play in the previous game of Manchester City and he came as the substitute in the Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk. But, he might get the nod to start the match for Manchester City. Danilo and Fabian Delph are still recovering from injury.

Predicted Starting Eleven :

Tottenham Hotspur :(4-2-3-1)

Goalkeeper : Lloris

Defenders : Trippier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Davies.

Midfielders : Dier, Dembele; Lamela, Eriksen, Moura.

Attackers : Kane

Manchester City : (4-3-3)

Goalkeeper : Ederson

Defenders : Walker, Otamendi, Laporte, Mendy

Midfielders : De Bruyne, Fernandinho, D.Silva.

Attackers : Mahrez, Aguero, Sterling.

My Predicted Scoreline :

Tottenham Hotspur 2-2 Manchester City.
